Well, there is two things you have to recognize the union sign and intersection sign

The union sign, which looks like a u and the intersection sign which looks like an A, without the cross. The intersection means it includes values from both sets, and the intersection mean that it chooses the values that go from min to max, and they don't have to be in both sets of numbers.
