Okay, so I'm doing this thing in geometry for conditional statements, but I need the truth values! (Basically if the statement/converse is true or false) I am so confused though! Can you please help me out? I've already written the statements/converses so can you please just tell me if its true or false? The 5 are down here 1. If-Then Statement: If you shop at Walmart, you save money and live better. Converse Statement: If you save money and live better, than you shop at Walmart. 2. If-Then Statement: If you come to IHop hungry, then you leave happy. Converse: If you leave happy, then you came to IHop hungry. 3. If then statement: If you don’t get directTV then you will wake up in a roadside ditch. Converse: If you wake up in a roadside ditch, then you didn’t get directTV. 4. If then Statement: If you use the hygienic vacuum cap, then your hair will be in perfect health. Converse Statement: If your hair is in perfect health, then you used the hygienic vacuum cap. 5. If then Statement: If you stare at the sandwich too long, then you’ll miss the train. Converse: If you missed the train, then you stared at the sandwich for too long

it depends on how old u r. how old r u? \

14. I'm in geometry.

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

@ucreategames How would it depend on the age of the questioner? I'll suppose you're trying to look for the second statement's truth value. 1. False. There are many ways to save money and live better, shopping at Walmart is not the only way. The first event implies the second event, but the second event does not imply the first event. 2. If-Then Statement: If you come to IHop hungry, then you leave happy. Converse: If you leave happy, then you came to IHop hungry. False. It is not specified whether the person even went to IHop. 3. If then statement: If you don’t get directTV then you will wake up in a roadside ditch. Converse: If you wake up in a roadside ditch, then you didn’t get directTV. True. 4. If then Statement: If you use the hygienic vacuum cap, then your hair will be in perfect health. Converse Statement: If your hair is in perfect health, then you used the hygienic vacuum cap. False. There are many ways to get the hair in perfect health, and hygienic vacuum cap is not the only way. 5. If then Statement: If you stare at the sandwich too long, then you’ll miss the train. Converse: If you missed the train, then you stared at the sandwich for too long False. You could just be at the toilet, or texted for too long. These questions are pretty vague...

i just became 14 though

OpenStudy (ucreategames):

stop answering my questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would all of the questions be false, because technically in #3 you don't have to wake up in a roadside ditch if you had cable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like are both the converses/conditionals the same answer

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

@ucreategames There are no limitations to who can answer questions. @meghansmith12 Since it is guaranteed that not getting the directTV will lead to waking up in a roadside ditch, it is reasonable for the converse to be true.

OpenStudy (ucreategames):

funny thing is that its all about your own way algebra is the way of how you interpret it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but also the conditional statements. like you said how the converses were true/false but i also need to know if the conditionals are true/false because they can be different from the converses..
