what does "divide the diameter in half" mean?
multiply it by 2
answer: it means nothing first of all it should be the length of the diameter, not the diameter second it should be "divide by 2"
@hartnn that is "divide by one half"
ohh....playing with words...
no it is a huge source of confusion the side of a triangle is the side of a triangle, not the length of the side of a triangle you can divide a diameter in two pieces if you like and each will have length half of the original length but another question is, what does "divide in half" mean? it means the math teacher doesn't know math imho
it shows a massive confusion between the object and the measure of the object like saying "i am 6" vs "i am six feet tall"
i means the math teacher cannot express what he/she wanted to say....
*it
the set of math teachers does not completely overlap with the set of people who pay attention to language ;)
and those who don't pay attention seem to be disproportionately represented in the ranks of the online education question-writing profession.
*cannot express properly
nor is it contained in the set of people qualified to teach people who have a moderate amount of knowledge in math or the intersection of those sets
