The seahorse is an unusual example of a(an) species because the male incubates the eggs in a pouch before giving birth to fully formed live offspring.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not 100% sure, but I believe it's Hippocampus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seahorse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's subfamiliy is hippo-campus but it's an unusual example of a chordate , we humans are chordates and seahorses are an unusual example of a chordate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought about that, but since it said "species" specifically I thought they were asking for that even though technically it would not be an unusual trait in it's own species right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep , that's it exactly .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, it makes a lot of sense when placed into the context of the question itself: "The seahorse is an unusual example of a [chordate] species because the male incubates the eggs in a pouch before giving birth to fully formed live offspring."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know what I missed the word species , I think you you were right in the first place with hippocaumpus - I'm not with it today - sorry guys
