What justifications did American revolutionaries have for declaring independence from Great Britain?
They wanted representation with out taxation that was the main reason for getting out from under the british
I think you mean they (the British) wanted taxation without representation.
no, the american revolutionaries wanted representation without taxation. @vortish was correct.
I hate to disagree, everyone, but I must add that the revolutionaries understood the importance of taxes, and knew they needed to pay them, but wished to have a say in how much and what on. They wanted representation concerning taxation. In addition, the British were imposing embargos and other restrictions that the colonists saw as unfair, quartering troops in their homes, and making laws without their consent or representation.
@ChemicallyWrit: Exactly. That's what I was saying. The British wanted to tax the colonies, but without providing representation in Parliament. Taxation without representation. @vortish and @*cat*: Representation without taxation would mean the Americans wanted to be represented in Parliament but not taxed. That's not what they were fighting for. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_taxation_without_representation
thank you @vortish
