Help me please? Write the equation of the line passing through the points (0, -4) and (-2, 2).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure if I did this right, I got y = -3x + 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = -3x + 4

OpenStudy (aripotta):

y = -3x - 4!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The y-intercept is (0, -4) because it's given as one of the points, so you should have -4 at the end (not +4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so then the equation of the line with a slope of -1/3 and passing through the point (6, -4) would be y = -1/3x - 2 ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you are correct

Thank you! :)
