Solve. -2/5x - 9 < 9/10 4x + 6 < - 6 q + 12 - 2(q-22) > 0 Please show work/explain. thanks!

I don't feel like bothering with the fractions in the first one, but it involves canceling out 5x first by mult.ing both sides by 5x. Anyhoo - 4x+6<-6 Subtract six (trying to get x alone) 4x<-12 Divide both sides by 4 x<-3 //////////// q+12-2(q-22)>0 First distribute the -2. q+12-2q+44>0 Simplify -q+52>0 subtract 52 -q>52 divide by negative one (sign flips to <) q<52 Hope I explained enough! :]

44 + 12 = 56, so q < 56. Other than that, she is correct.

thank yous so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually, sorry, she is incorrect in her work. When you subtract 52 you have -q > - 52, however her answer was correct. She seemed to have accounted for it in her mind, but not in the text.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes sorry, from the incorrect point on, it would be -q>-56 divide by -1, sign flips q<56 (instead of 52, as stated)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!

For the first one would it be -2/5x - 9 < 9/10 -4/10x -90/10 <9/10 -4/10x< 99/10 ??
