help!! is 1/5 a zero of a polynomial 25x^4+9x^2+17x+3?? thanks in advance

Do you know synthetic division ?

You could just plug it in and check, but there is an easier way. Notice that all the terms are positive, so you can't have any positive "x" zeros.

Better yet, what happens when you plug in 1/5 for x. What is your y value ?

And the reason why there are no positive "x" zeros is that everything is added. When you do nothing but add up several positive numbers, you will never get zero! Simple solution method. No need to make some solutions harder than need be.

really appreciate it!!
