Find the slope of the line that passes through (4, 1) and (7, –2). –1 –1/3 1/3 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To calculate the slope you must find the difference in y divided by difference in x. Use this rule: \[\frac{ y2-y1 }{ x2-x1 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4,1) and (7,-2) (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)

ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know the rule,I just don't understand how to solve it.

Ok So I wrote the first point is (4,1) so it will be (x1,y1) The second point is (7,-2) so it will be in terms of ( x2,y2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The rule is: y2-y1/x2-x1 SO: -2-1/7-4 It will be -1
