Mimulus lewisii and Mimulus cardinalis are two plants that occupy the same habitat but do not interbreed in nature. However, they can be readily crossed in the laboratory to produce fertile offspring. Which of the following is a likely reason that prevents interbreeding of these plants in nature?

because there is chromosomal difference( esp the chromosome containing the gene for colour is under study) b/w the two species and it is unlikely in nature for two species nomatter of the same family to interbreed.
