Yes.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Also how do you determine were to put what word?
OpenStudy (aripotta):
i'm not sure about this...idk what to put for 1 dimension...i think you'd be better off with someone else helping you :/
OpenStudy (anonymous):
:/ okay:///

@JakeV8 can you help her?

OpenStudy (aripotta):
would a circle be 1 dimension?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I am not sure. We just started this.
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
A cone is 3 dimension..
im guessing surface area is .. 1 dimension.. Not sure

2-dimensional has area...
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
Oh lol...
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
Cyliinder is 3 dimensional
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So area and surface area is two dimension?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok let me write that down

yes, like a circle has 2 dimensions, but a cylinder or a sphere has 3
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
Octagon is 2 dimensional right..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
hm,thanks jake! dont leave! im writing!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yup
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
Cuz it has a flat surface

Cube is 3 dimension
Triangle is most likely 2 dimension

ok, ill wait! tnnx jake and om!

back

good. that was quick

am writing,one sec
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
Perimeter and circumference go in to 1 dimension.. im guessing
OpenStudy (anonymous):
If you can measure volume, it has 3 dimensions.
If no volume but area, it has 2 dimensions.
If no area, but length, 1 dimension.
If no length, it's a single point... 0 dimensions.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no guessing :) (jk)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay Jake, let us go in order, yes?

@helpmeplz311 you can use that order of things to figure all these out... just ask each question in order... But I'll hang around to help...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I shall fan you for your kindness,Jake:)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
hmmm, i will try.

It is okay Jake,l, Ok I wikl try
area is 2 yes?
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
Yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
surface area and area?

SI... :D
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
And i think perimeter and circumference too.. Maybe you should ask jake on those
OpenStudy (anonymous):
hahah loll ok, im writing
OpenStudy (anonymous):
same thing... surface area is a type of area. But don't get confused... you can find surface area on a 3-dimensional shape... that's why you FIRST ask if it has volume.
OpenStudy (aripotta):
is height 1, 2, and 3?

perimeter and circumference are tricky... guesses, anyone? ;)
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
ITS IN 1 DIMENSION1!!.. i think
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@AriPotta, are you asking if height is all three choices?
OpenStudy (aripotta):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@omnomnom you thing correctly. But let's talk for a sec about why (unless you are sure, but even then, @AriPotta and @helpmeplz311 may want to hear it too)

Ok guys I am making a chart on googlr docs and adding the terms as we go along.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay Jake
OpenStudy (aripotta):
height is just a line , right? so it's only 1?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
The tricky part on 1 dimension is to realize that you can describe, completely, where you are along a one-dimensional figure with a single number (that's really what makes it one-dimensional).
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
Why because circumference is basically perimeter for a circle.. and it falls in the category of area i think.. O.O
Idk.. LOL WHY DONT YOU TELL US??? @JakeV8

OpenStudy (anonymous):
right @AriPotta ... good job.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so for perimeter and circumference, think about a track, like you run around in a race... you only need 1 number to tell how far you are around the track.
OpenStudy (aripotta):
:o
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
oh right.. So it will still be 1 dimension
OpenStudy (anonymous):
The track encloses a field... the field is 2-dimensional because it has area.
But the distance around a track just requires 1 number to describe.

Okay. perimeter circumference is one
yes?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Same with any line... just say "how far along the line?", and that's it.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes, @helpmeplz311 , correct.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
length as well,no?
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
And Rectangular Prism is 3 DIMENSION!!

Length... "how much length?" Answer: 6 miles, or 4 feet, or whatever... just one number needed
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@omnomnom is correct.
OpenStudy (aripotta):
is this right?
OpenStudy (omnomnom):
And TRIANGULAR PRISM IS IN 3 DIMENSION TOO
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@AriPotta you missed one... can you find it?

the sphere??

there we go :)
