OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have time, @AriPotta ? I'm not sure I can stay long enough to walk all the way through this one. It's the same idea as before...

OpenStudy (aripotta):

o-o i can try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jake post the other link plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@helpmeplz311 the key is to start either by thinking of the figure type or by noting the key words in the sentence... if it says something like "how far", that should remind you of length, like in all those 1-dimensional figures... "how much to cover" sounds like area, like in 2-dimensional figures... etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. did you get my new link?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No jake, nvm, heres my other photo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Huh? I think you lost me...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats the other questions. please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am still confused about what you need... the reason I linked the old question chart was for easy reference here. It doesn't answer it all, but it might help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. Hmm, I will try.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, like in the first question, they want to cover an area 4 feet by 5 feet... It's a bulletin board... what shape is that? Sounds like a rectangle, right? So that's what you put in the blank for "figure".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ok. yes,sir.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im writing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And I know you know the formula for area of a rectangle... write that in the formula blank.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

w x h yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, that's fine... or length x width, whatever... Based on that other chart, I would probably call this one "area", not "surface area"... I think the 3rd problem is going to get into surface area, so this one is probably just "area".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

done writing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o key words cover the board?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I think that's what they mean... what key words in the sentence help you decide what is going on for the figure and for what you have to find. I just ran out of time :( I really have to leave now... so sorry to leave you mid-problem. But just keep thinking through these in the same way... seems like you understand :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay,tnx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help,kc?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i beg you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about units?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

feet squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay,thank u 296:)

OpenStudy (aripotta):

or just feet. i'm not sure what they want on that :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the appropriate units for area? They have to be square units, right? Otherwise you are giving length... (and bye! :) )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. okay:/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tnx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what dimension? im not sure

OpenStudy (aripotta):

2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o ithing 2d?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes,ok srry meant to type that b4 u srry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok,done

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think good keywords would be cover the board

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will you plz help me with the next one plz?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i can try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

units mm^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i think it's mm^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh. why?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

because it's volume, isn't it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o yea. area is cubed no? im so dumb

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yes it is lol that's it's mm^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is area.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

it's volume

OpenStudy (aripotta):

ugh. idk.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. Oh,okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wrote it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and...um... 3d?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yes

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i have to go to bed soon. i gotta wake up early. rollins university tour :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sigh everyones leaving me can u try and help me real quick on them all? i will have to ask a million times b4 anyone else comes here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oo u attend a university? cool

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no i don't lol. not yet! i'm going to be though. tomorrow, i'm going to visit rollins and have a tour of the campus. i plan on doing that with all my college choices, so i know which one i like the best :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

coool!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

congrats!

OpenStudy (aripotta):

it's not like i got accepted or anything lol. i haven't even applied yet! but thanks anyway lol. and i'm sorry, but i really need to get to sleep! registration starts at 9am!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thanks for your help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i shall now go in an endless seach for help but tnx for stopping by

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i'm sorry :< post the link in the chat, maybe someone will pop by

OpenStudy (aripotta):

and bump it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

alright, gotta go. good night and good luck :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay 296. cu!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@yummydum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the last one on the picture then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive five more which ill take another picture of

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive got therest of that last one but what about the units?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yummy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill just show you one and im sure youll get the rest (hopefully) \[\text{#1}\]\[\text{Figure: \(Rectangle\)}\]\[\text{Measurement to find: \(Area\)}\]\[\text{Key Words:} ~I'm ~not ~sure ~about ~this ~one,~ though~ it ~says ~to ~refer~ to~ your\] \(reference ~sheet ~so ~I'll~ leave~ that~ to ~you\) \[\text{Formula Needed: \(A=l\times w\) }\]\[\text{What Dimension: \(2nd~?\)}\]\[\text{Unit: \(feet\)}\] this is my best shot at it....ive never done stuff like this before but maybe this helps you...sorry if i couldnt help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the unit for the last one is Centimeter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me take a pic of the other side real quick its five problems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

br one sec
