OpenStudy (vortish):

solve D=abc for b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This looks worse than it is... it's just a matter of getting "b" all alone on one side of the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d/ac

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just like if you had 2x = 4, to solve for x, you would divide both sides by 2 to get x all alone... Here, you want to get "b" all alone... so divide by all the stuff surrounding the "b" term.

OpenStudy (vortish):

jake is right I would rather you teach it to me and show how to get to the solution so I understand how to do it next time

OpenStudy (vortish):

ok so it would look like d/b ac/b right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry @vortish

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure I followed you last comment @vortish Solve D=abc for b: Get b all alone... what do you need to divide the right side by to get "b" all alone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You divide both sides by the stuff next to the "b", right? Divide both sides by "ac". Do you follow?

OpenStudy (vortish):

i think so so you are saying that it would db/ac b/ac and the bs would cancel each other out to leave us with d/ac

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, sorry, if that's what you said before, that's correct... I just didn't follow it. you have D on the left, and abc on the right... divide both sides by "ac" and the "ac" cancels on the right leaving "b"... and on the left, you just have D/ac It's just moving terms around... "solving for" just means getting whatever you're solving for all alone by whatever you have to do.

OpenStudy (vortish):

k thanks jake your a good tutor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

trying... just like you.
