Take a look at these groups of words: Good, Better, Best Bad, Worse, Worst Great, Greater, Greatest You see how there is a sort of increase in the intensity of the description, as we go along? The first word is the Adjective. The second word is the Comparative. The third word is the Superlative. So....for example.. Bad = Adjective Worse = Comparative Worst = Superlative. Now, let's take a look at our question. The comparative for bueno. "Bueno" means "good." That means that the comparative is "better." And the Spanish word for "better" is "mejor."

Just in case, "más bueno" can also be used as a comparative in some cases (mainly when bueno means bondadoso, someone being a kind, good person).
