Which sentence is grammatically correct? A) The girls took there backpacks to school B) Mark and Brian furiously looked for they're tickets before the concert. C) Sean and Janine brought their books back to the library after due date

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The last one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the first one, it should be "their" instead of there. The second one it should be "their" instead of they're.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree with zordoloom that C is the correct one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The 3rd one is correct

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

There = "Look over THERE, something interesting is happening!" (it's a place) They're = "My friends are awesome, THEY'RE the best friends ever!" (they are) Their = "My neighbors will not let me go into THEIR yard." (ownership, the neighbors own the yard, it's theirs.) You can practice some more here: (#5 - #10) http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/cgi-shl/quiz.pl/its_there_quiz.htm and here are more examples: http://www.wisc-online.com/Objects/ViewObject.aspx?ID=ESL1402 Good luck! :)

I would have to say, none of them. 1) "There" should be "their," and a period needs to be included at the end. 2) "Furiously looked" sounds awkward; perhaps "frantically searched" (or something along that line) would be better. Also, as mentioned already, "they're" should be "their." 3)" Due date" should be "the due date." Also, there should be a period at the end.
