conservation of angular momentum If a student stands on a platform allowed to spin and holds a bicycle wheel and spins it in a VERTICAL plane.. then it has an initial angular momentum in the HORIZONTAL direction.. So now if the student makes the spinning wheel horizontal.. can someone tell me how is the system gonna adjust to make sure the final angular momentum is equal to initial (a net horizontal angular momentum) ?

i just don't get how the student and the platform spinning conserves the momentum I do understand it.. if the student started with spinning wheel in the HORIZONTAL plane itself and then totally inverted it..

anyone?? i understand that it cancels out the horizontal spin.. because initially there was no horizontal spin.... but what about the vertical spin??? where has that gone????
