OpenStudy (sarahc):

I know this is chemistry but..Describe how protons, neutrons, and electrons each affect the charge and mass of an atom.

OpenStudy (nubeer):

neutrons dont have any charge so they dont put any affect.. protons and electrons are always same so positive charges are balancd by the same number of negggative charges on electrons.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

protons make an atom positively charged and add one unit of atomic mass. neutrons have no charge and add one unit of atomic mass. electrons are negatively charged to the same degree of protons, so one proton and one electron cancel each other out. one electron is approximately 1/174 atomic mass units, but it is commonly represented

OpenStudy (nubeer):

the mass of electrons is not 1/174

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought it was

OpenStudy (nubeer):

well its not its something like 1/1870 or something near this value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/1840

OpenStudy (nubeer):

yeah. right .. ty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what grade are you nubeer

OpenStudy (nubeer):

mm university level.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, i have posted a question in here, and nobody have helped me yet.

OpenStudy (nubeer):

hmm inbox me the link.. lol if i still remember that stuff i will surely help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol
