Can you please help me go through this problem 6x + 29 = 5 A) –4 B) –18 C) 204 D) –144 I think I have to divide 6 by somthing first but I get lost and not to sure ;o Thanks for help :-D!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Subtract the 29 to the right side: 6x=-24 Divide by the 6 to get x by itself: x=-4 Simple Algebra

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o thanks you make it to simple :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll try to use this for my next problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@natalie135 how would you know which place to start like in the probelm above you started with 29 not 6 how did you know which one to do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Start by getting the X on the side by itself, so that you can solve for it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if there is two variables

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like im trying to solve –21a + 16a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You just add the two together, since it is like saying there are: -21a's and 16a's so the total number of a's is -5. So that answer to that is -5a. Making sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya xD your making me feel stupid :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks btw!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dont feel stupid. :)
