3[rt(x+4)] - 2 = 13 3[rt(x+4)] = 15 rt(x+4) = 5 x+4 = 25 x = 25 - 4 x = 21

divide both sides by 3 take square on both sides add 2 to both sides and at last subtract 4 from both sides
