OpenStudy (anonymous):

how could you tell the direction of a particle if you're only given a velocity graph. I know that velocity is the first derivative but I don't have an equation and I'm just not sure what to do

OpenStudy (kainui):

Do you know what velocity is the first derivative of?

OpenStudy (kainui):

I know the answer and will help you out, but I want you to see if you can figure it out yourself by asking you questions.

OpenStudy (kainui):

Remember, velocity is the change in position with respect to time. So if something is moving forward it will have a positive change in position with respect to time. If something is backing up, it will have a negative change in position over time. Makes sense?
