how does the speaker of the house prevent a bill from becoming a law... Thanks

The Speaker of the House has the power to set the agenda, meaning the Speaker of the House can decide what comes up for a vote and what doesn't. So basically, if the Speaker of the House doesn't like something, the Speaker of the House can just not schedule it for a vote and it can't pass.
