passes through (-1,-10),Parallel to y=7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A line parallel to y=7 would need to be a horizontal line as well. What would the horizontal line going through (-1,-10) be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wasn't in class to learn any of this. so i'm cluless to be hoest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

honest*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well do you know what the graph of y=7 looks like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so the 7 means that the line always has a y value of 7 no matter what the x value is. If you drew a horizontal line through the point (-1,-10) what would your equation look like? (it would be very similar to y=7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but its saying to write the equation of the line in slope intercept form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, y=7 is in slope intercept form. It really means y=0x+7. Since a horizontal line has a slope of 0. They just left that part out because 0 times anything is 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so imagine what the y-intercept would be after drawing a horizontal line through (-1,-10) A hint is that when you draw a horizontal line though (-1,7) you get a y-intercept of 7 and an equation of y=0x+7
