Desert plants are characterized by
Desert plants are characterized by their absorbent roots. since there inst allot of water in the desert the plants roots absorb as much water as they can when they get water.
Some of them have really long roots, so that they can dig really far into the ground, to get water. And some desert plants have branched roots that can stretch really far away from the plant, so that they can get water from farther out. And have you ever wondered why cacti have needles? Those needles are actually special leaves. Cacti have really narrow and pointy leaves that look like needles, so that the actual plant doesn't lose too much of its water through the leaves. It's easier to lose water, if a plant has large, flat leaves.
Desert plants can also be characterised by the structure of their Leaves and Stems. These structures are specifically adapted for the storing of WATER, by increasing their surface area to volume ratio, they can reduce the loss of water caused by the harsh dry climate.
