graph the two lines and you will get your answer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
if you add you two equations together what would you get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
still not understanding
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you can eliminate y and solve for x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
does that make sense you would get 5x = 5, solve this for x and plug back into one of the equations to solve for y

does this help?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i guess
OpenStudy (anonymous):
because 2x+3x = 5x right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
and 2y + -2y = 0
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It is 1, -4. You can just plug in all the answers and see which one would give you the right answer within the equation.

and -6 + 11 = 5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay
OpenStudy (anonymous):
that works too. Sometime though you wont be given the solutions so they way I was tring to show you would help you in any problem. :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
when you see that 5x = 5 , then x = 1,
OpenStudy (anonymous):
then when you plug 1 in for x into either equation you get y= 4

thank you it did :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thanks for the Medal!!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
