Use the Remainder Theorem to find the remainder when f(x) is divided by x-k. Is x-k a factor of f(x)? x+2; 7x^4-12x^3-10x+4

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

f(x) = 7x^4-12x^3-10x+4 f(-2) = 7(-2)^4-12(-2)^3-10(-2)+4 f(-2) = ???

f(-2)=232 Is x-k a factor of f(x)?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

since f(-2) = 232, this means that the remainder is 232 since the remainder is NOT 0, x+2 is NOT a factor of f(x)

Thank you SO much!
