'ln' stands for natural logarithm, and is a logarithm with a base of e. these are inverse functinos of each other and have the effect of cancelling each other out when they are nested. \[\large \ln e^{-3x+4} = \log_e e^{-3x+4}\] you could also read the logrithm as such: what number do you have to raise 'e' to so that it equals e^(-3x+4)
