Simplify... (q^2-6q-7)/(q^2-4q-21)-(q^2+4q+3)/(q^2+2q+1) i need help with the steps. please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ q^2-6q-7 }{ q^2-4q-21 }-\frac{ q^2+4q+3 }{ q^2+2q+1 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can somebody help show me the steps to this problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first part on the right can be factored to (q -7) ( q+1) / (q-7)(q+3) so it will result in to ( q+1 /q+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second part ( q +1)(q+3) / (q+1) (q+1) will be q +3 / q+ 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now its easy to subtract

:)
