Degrees to radians?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to change to degrees to radians multiply by 180/pi.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can find it if given choices, for example if they ask me to convert 225 degrees to radians, i know its 5(pi)/4, I know that only because i substituted pi for 180, I've heard of formula, know of it?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

To change degrees to radians divide by 180 and multiply by pi. \[90degrees=\frac{90}{180}\times \pi=\frac{\pi}{2}radians\]

OpenStudy (eyust707):

degrees and radians are just different ways to divide up a circle: Radians divides the circle into 2 pi parts and degrees divides the circle into 360 parts. 2pi = 360 pi = 180 pi/2 = 90 etc. Since angles are really just fractions of a circle \[ {\pi \over 2 \pi} = {180 \over 360}\] \[ {\pi/2 \over 2 \pi} = {90 \over 360}\] And in general: \[ {r \over 2 \pi} = {d \over 360}\] Solving for r or d will allow you to convert between the two. This is where the "formula" posted above comes from =)
