What is the Least Common Denominator (LCD) of eight-ninths and seven-twelfths? someone explain this for me i dont understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What denominator will fit both 8/"9" and 7/"12". Like what number will both go into 9 and 12.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does 4 go into 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope, perhaps something like 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but 12 dosnt go into 3 :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 goes into 12 and 3 goes into 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it does :O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but one of my options are 7 eighteen thirty-six fifty-six

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, it would be 56/3. since 56 goes into the numerator, and 3 goes into the denominator, The closest to any of those would be 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

56 would be lcm for numerator though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o.O SO ITS 18
