Two quantities vary inversely. If the value of the first is 15 when the value of the second is 18, find the value of the second quantity when the first is 10.

is it 27?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Direct variation is a simple proportion. For example, one item costs $5, 2 items cost $10. The ratio is 1 item/$1 which is equal to 2 items/$2. Inverse variation is as one item gets larger, the other one gets smaller. So set up one ratio normally, and do the inverse of the second ratio. 15/18 = x/10
