a man running on a straight path at 3 meters per second accelerates uniformly to a speed of 5.23 meters per second in 9.65 seconds. What is the total distance traveled? What formula can i use?
\[x _{f}=x _{i}+v _{1}\Delta t+\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }a \Delta t ^{2}\]
whats a?
a would be the acceleration.
what would it be in this case though? like what number?
Actually the first equation you should use is this one \[v _{f}=v _{i}+a \Delta t\]
this will help you compute your acceleration.
ohh so first we solve for acceleration and then plug it into the other formula?
then you could actually just use the formula \[v _{f}^{2}=v _{i}^{2}+2a \Delta x\] and compute the total distance.
so you actually won't even need the first formula, so you can disregard it.
what did u end up getting for acceleration because i got 4 and then did the problem and got it wrong..
the answer is not 4.
just kidding!
i got it! haha i divided wrong
you should setup the problem and show me how you did it. but the answer came out to be 39.7
ok good job :)
lol yeah i figured it out haha i have some more questions and i dont know what formulas to use and i have my test tomorrow, would u mind helping me out?
i dont mind reposting it so i could give u the best answer but would u mind helping me?
sure. could you make a new thread for it though? This one is cluttered now.
yes! no problem! gracias
de nada
