OpenStudy (anonymous):

can someone help me fill this table out but also provide an explanation how to... pic attached

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (phi):

This is "solved" by memorizing

OpenStudy (hba):

@haleylou56 Are you allowed to use a calculator ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (hba):

Well then whats the problem ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure on how to enter the stuff in to find what im looking for

OpenStudy (hba):

@haleylou56 Please tell me if you don't understand anything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand anything lol

OpenStudy (hba):

Do you see your table it says \[\tan \theta = \sqrt{3}\]

OpenStudy (hba):

@haleylou56

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (hba):

Now if we take tan on the other side it becomes tan^-1 So, \[\theta =\tan^{-1} (\sqrt{3})\]

OpenStudy (hba):

@haleylou56 Is this understandable ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (phi):

most people memorize the sin, cos and tan of 0,30,45,60 and 90 degrees http://glare.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-figure-out-Sin-and-Cos-of-common-angles-in-one-minute#slide2709738

OpenStudy (hba):

Now use you calculator to tell me what \[\theta =\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

60

OpenStudy (hba):

Ok so now start filling your table we have got \[\theta\ inn \ degrees\]

OpenStudy (hba):

Now calculate Sin(60) Cos (60)

OpenStudy (hba):

@haleylou56 Use your calculator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin60=.8660254038 thoiugh.....??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cos60=1/2?

OpenStudy (hba):

0.866 Use the Function on the calculator which changes decimal to fractions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i do that

OpenStudy (hba):

Wait let me show you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i went to mode an changed it from auto to fractions but its still giving me decimals

OpenStudy (hba):

Do you see the S>>D button

OpenStudy (hba):

It is above the del button.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i have a ti-84

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nothings above my del

OpenStudy (hba):

Well 0.866 is \[\sqrt{3}/2\] So now we have.

OpenStudy (hba):

Now as we know Sin=1/cosec cos=1/sec tan=1/cot So you just find them for me now and tell me the values.

OpenStudy (hba):

@haleylou56 Are you with me ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk how to enter it now

OpenStudy (hba):

Ok Cosec theta = 1/sin theta ,we found sin theta = underroot (3) /2 so. Cosec theta=1/root(3)/2 =2/root(3) Similarly find Sec theta= 1/ cos theta and cot theta =1/tan theta

OpenStudy (hba):

cos theta= 1/2(As we found out) and tan theta = root (3) (given)

OpenStudy (hba):

@haleylou56 Respond ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok give me a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont have sec or csc or cot buttons

OpenStudy (hba):

I know that,that is the reason i gave you formula to put into it and solve it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh gotcha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so sec=1/2 and cot=1/root3.....???

OpenStudy (hba):

Cos theta = 1/2 and sec theta = 1/cos theta so =1/1/2 =2

OpenStudy (hba):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay i made a mstake entering it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is cot right??

OpenStudy (hba):

I attached the chart.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou sooo much... i understand a lot better

OpenStudy (hba):

@haleylou56 Wait we are not yet done with one thing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i found the last thing it is radians?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

157/150

OpenStudy (hba):

How to convert degrees to radians. R=Degrees* (pi/180) Degrees = 60 Now solve.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get 157.150 or 1.04719

OpenStudy (hba):

No let the pi be there don't use its value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/3

OpenStudy (hba):

Not 1/3,the answer will be pi/3 got it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (hba):

ok good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if i have 270 degrees would it be3pi/2

OpenStudy (hba):

How to check whether you are right or wrong 3*180/2=270 Therfore,You are right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im having trouble finding these last two things

OpenStudy (hba):

pick sin theta = 0 theta=sin^-1(0) theta=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0

OpenStudy (hba):

What about radians ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0 also

OpenStudy (hba):

Good :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive got two more that im missing parts too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (hba):

What is cos (45)=

OpenStudy (hba):

and Sec 45 = 1/Cos 45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cos45=.707106

OpenStudy (hba):

0.707 is 1/sq.root(2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sec=root2
