Which two statements contradict each other? 1. Jon, Elizabeth and Franco read 27 books among them for a class. 2. Franco read six books. 3. None of the students read more than 7. Statements one and three contradict each other. Here's why: If no student read more than 7 books (statement 3), and there are only three students (statement 1), then the maximum number of books that could have been read is 3*7 = 21 books. So, the MAXIMUM number of books the students could have read, according to statement 3, is 21. But statement 1 says that the students read 27 books altogether. Therefore, either statement 1 or 3 is wrong. They contradict each other.
