I do K12 and I need help on my semester test for 10th grade Geometry. Help!?!

OpenStudy (icalibear):

What's the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Point F is located at (1, 3) and point G is located at (5, -5). Find the midpoint of line segment FG.

OpenStudy (icalibear):

The formula for finding the midpoint is m = a + b/2. Do you have graphing paper or a graphing tool?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.. :/ its my end of semester test and I am stuck on the entire thing! Its 40 questions.

OpenStudy (icalibear):

Ouch. Well just a second I'll work out the problem I'm doing the same stuff as you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thank you so much!

OpenStudy (icalibear):

yw.just a min

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alrighty

OpenStudy (icalibear):

You can use the formula, but that takes a while, so when you have two points that are easily graphed just graph them and find the middle of the line by counting down units from each endpoint until you get to the center. Here's how I did it

OpenStudy (icalibear):

So the answer is (3, -1).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!! Gosh, I hate math. I think I need to pay someone to do these questions for me lol I don't understand any of this crap and I'm only on number 3

OpenStudy (icalibear):

I might be able to help with more but I have a test I have to finish too :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are the questions on your test?? I'm wondering if we have the same test!

OpenStudy (icalibear):

Well i go to connections actually not k12 haha theyre similar

OpenStudy (icalibear):

It looks like there teaching the same things tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe so! Are you in tenth grade?

OpenStudy (icalibear):

Freshman but I'm in sophomore classes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nice! Do you have a question that says "FInd the distance between the point (5, 2) and the line y=5x+2 (rounded to the nearest hundredth)" ?

OpenStudy (icalibear):

No but I can solve that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you don't mind :p

OpenStudy (icalibear):

Ok do you have the point slope formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope! I think that is my problem lol

OpenStudy (icalibear):

haha well its y – y1 = m(x – x1). you need to use that to find the line that runs through the point.

OpenStudy (icalibear):

it also has to be perpendicular

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hate math lol

OpenStudy (icalibear):

its not that bad haha just have to learn it :p

OpenStudy (icalibear):

I'll just go ahead and solve the equation but you should probably pay attention to the steps for future reference

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I'm going back to my old school next semester instead of staying in homeschooling, so I haven't tried learning any of this stuff, I'm just trying to get it over with so I can go back!! lol

OpenStudy (icalibear):

me too!! lol im finishing. semester work so thats possible!

OpenStudy (icalibear):

homeschool sucks o.O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I AGREE!! I hate it so much.

OpenStudy (icalibear):

its so lonely!

OpenStudy (icalibear):

last time i saw people was 2 weeks ago ._.

OpenStudy (icalibear):

like friends not people lol

OpenStudy (icalibear):

what are the multiple choice for that question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahaha I see my friends all the time I just miss going to school with everybody! and they are A: 1.36 units B: 4.81 units C: 4.9 units D: 2.19 units

OpenStudy (icalibear):

oh theyre in units that makes it easier haha i had this whole trigonomic thing going on ._>

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh my goodness!!! haha

OpenStudy (icalibear):

its either b or c

OpenStudy (icalibear):

i would choose c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Best guess?! Lol

OpenStudy (icalibear):

well its one of the two and c seems more like it so try it.! one question wont hurt anyway and its probably right :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay! Thank you!

OpenStudy (icalibear):

yw was it right?
