What do delta cells in the pancreas do ?
these aren't my own words, i did a bit a research :) (hope you don't mind) Pancreatic delta cell: A type of cell located in tissue that is called the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. Delta cells make somatostatin, a hormone that inhibits the release of numerous hormones in the body. ( http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=7262 )
does this help?
yes it does but the thing is i need to know if it increases blood sugar or decreases it, i couldn't find anything on google so far :S
the third paragraph on this site http://drlynnlafferty.com/articles/53-about-the-pancreas-and-sugar-handling-problems.html
"As blood glucose concentration rises, the pancreas secretes insulin to decrease the concentration of blood sugar and store the glucose in the cells. " so it decreases the blood sugar
thats for the beta cells ... blaaah this is hard :/
i need this infor for delta cells
according to this: http://books.google.co.id/books?id=J63SXWt8eHoC&pg=PT321&lpg=PT321&dq=do+delta+cells+in+the+pancreas+decrease+blood+sugar&source=bl&ots=8hEZxUie5v&sig=UJBboskEmuANnildaHppKXuZoZE&hl=en&sa=X&ei=m6PGUKjuDsK4rAfLgIHoDg&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAA it says that delta cells keep the glucose level fairly constant.
