According to the WHO, most cases of diarrhea are actually caused by contaminated and untreated water. (As many as 88% of all cases) Here's an article for you: http://globalhealth.kff.org/GHIR/Conditions/Waterborne-Diarrhea.aspx ~~~~~~~~~ And I'm not 100% sure about the American Medical Association. But it actually sounds more like an advocacy group, for doctors and medical students. This article tells us that they provide funding for medical schools and students, as well as "promote and advance the interests" of doctors and patients. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Medical_Association And this article suggests that the AMA doesn't play a direct role in providing a public health program. Rather, they made suggestions and offer support for programs that they are otherwise powerless to legally establish: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/11/us/politics/11health.html?_r=0 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Antiseptics are actually applied to LIVING skin and tissue. So the answer to the last question would be False. Here's a definition, from a medical dictionary: http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Antiseptics
@Makayla_Lee96 I do think that your answer about Egyptians having recorded some of the first medical procedures is right.
its not?
What's not?
Oh yeah, I forgot to talk about the question about fevers. Fevers are the body's natural defense against pathogens (disease-causing agents), like bacteria. It's where your body heats up. When we raise the temperature around pathogens, it can either slow down their reproductive rate (the speed at which they divide), or it can kill them. That is why doctors don't typically treat low fevers. Here's an article. Just skip down to the "Real Life Applications" paragraph: http://www.ehow.com/about_5410072_effects-temperature-bacterial-growth.html
