What is the vertex of y = |x + 1| ? (–1, 0) (0, –1) (0, 1) (1, 0)

i think D

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Note that the vertex of y = |x| occurs at (0, 0). Then since y = |x + 1| is just y = |x| shifted to the left by 1 unit, the vertex of y = |x| will also be shifted to the left by 1 unit. Therefore, the vertex of y = |x + 1| is (0 - 1, 0) = (-1, 0).
