A circle with a radius 10 in. has radii drawn to the endpoints of a 6 in. chord. What is the measure of the central angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not sure how to set this up. I know that I will eventually have to use the sine/cosine laws.

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

Are you able to draw a picture of this problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes absolutely. So far I drew a circle...with the radius 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then I'm stuck...

|dw:1355453973739:dw| Yeah. So, the next step is drawing the chord in. Basically we just need to know the definition of a chord to draw it in properly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah thats where im at a loss..

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

Basically, a chord is just a line segment that connects two points of the circle. Examples: |dw:1355454139894:dw| So, a chord of length 6 in is just a little more specific, we draw in the chord that is 6 inches long. |dw:1355454227841:dw|
