whats the question? =P
OpenStudy (anonymous):
w+xy+3x^2= 2 and x=2y, find w when y=-2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
first all you have to do is plug -2 in for all the Y you see
so first lets take x = 2y
x = 2y equals x = 2(-2)
This equals -4. therefore x = -4
now we move onto the first equation, you plug in -2 for all y, and -4 for all x
you get:
w + (-4)(-2) + 3(-4)^2 = 2 (remember, PEMDAS - exponents come first before mult.)
w + 8 + 48 = 2
w + 56 = 2
subtract 56 on both sides
w = -54
do you understand that?
