please help !!! from The Canterbury Tale, “The Wife of Bath’s Tale” 14. Based on the character of the Wife of Bath and her tale, what do you think was Chaucer’s perspective on the state of women and their condition? Women were smart and worthy of the same authority as men. Women needed to set an example of piousness for men. Women were angelic creatures who could not harbor lust or vice. Women were too often victims of abuses by their husbands.

The Wife claims to represent female voices - and her tale consists of a set of women representing each other. The raped maiden is represented by the queen, who in turn is represented by the lothly lady, who in turn becomes a beautiful lady: the image which precedes her appearance is, appropriately, twenty four ladies apparently vanishing into one. The Wife speaks on behalf of women everywhere: and against the male clerks who have written the antifeminist literature that Jankin reads in his book of wicked wives.

sure , the question is In “The Wife of Bath's Tale,” while the knight is returning to the castle, he sees young maidens dancing in the woods. When he rides up, he finds only the old woman. What can you infer about the woman from these events?

She is an elf fairy and she has transformed herself into an old woman.
