Can any one tell me about tensor and phasor ?
I studied in high school that there are four types of measuring quantities 1)Scalar 2)Vector 3)Phasor 4)Tensor I studied about Scalar and vector in great detail,but,i did not get to know about Phasor and Tensor.
@UnkleRhaukus Please tell me :)
@sauravshakya Yes ?
@Callisto
um a tensor is a type of matrix
Hmm. What about phasor ?
tensor- how i get before a test phasor- star trek weapon can be turned up to lethal or stunning strength your welcome <3
your'e*
rofl ty
you're* :)
ty.
i dont know about phasors, but i have also heard of spinors
Hmm.Thanks a lot @UnkleRhaukus :)
wikipedia tells me that a phasor is just a sinusoid
Just a sinusoid ?
Lemme check.
i would like to know the difference between a spinor and a tensor (they are some kinda matrix) , but my studies havent brought me to that level yet
a phasor or sinor is some sort of a sinusoid.
I don't know what Spinor is though.
hmm what about Twistors?
Well,I have just completed high school,So you cannot expect that from me lol :P Spinors,twistors and quaternion are something i have not studied yet :(
they look a bit scary to me , but i aim to one day have a deep understanding of these concepts , one day
I also hope to have an understanding about them one day :) @Callisto Can you help us ?
@hba Note that I'm just at the same level as you. How am I supposed to know that?
@Callisto I have not joined Uni yet and you are done with a whole semster.
semester*
I'm sorry. I took the calculus course in the first semester, haven't taken the linear algebra yet.
@hartnn Lifesaver :'(
@hartnn Tell me about Phasor and tensor((they are some kinda matrix) ?
phasor is just a phase vector, like \(A \sin (\omega \theta)\) is a phasor, one which has amplitude, frequency and phase.
don't know much about tensors.....
i meant \(A \sin (\omega t +\theta)\) as phasor....
Um,I read something like this from Wiki. Can you tell me something more ?
i can't tell you more than wiki :P this was never taught to me...
I will just go to my professor and ask him about this, Thanks a lot for helping.
@ajprincess Here
Really sorry @hba. I too have no idea:( Guess they will be teachng me these in my second yr.
All the above three quantities are one and same..in the sense all represents physical quantities
@experimentX Can you help ?
scalar is a tensor of rank zero
vector is a tensor of rank 1 here is a better explanation http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/51503.html
What about Phasor ?
I am not sure about phasor, at least it's not a vector according to wikipedia
Hmm,Thanks a lot :)
sorry I don't have much experience in tensor calculus.
No worries c:
so tensors are always square matrices?
