the slope of the line is -2. find the point slope equation of the line. (4,-6) is it y - 6 = -2(x+4) ?

OpenStudy (hba):

y-(-6)=-2(x-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The points are plugged in correctly, but the signs are wrong. Since its y-y1, the double negative would become a +. And the +4 would actually be a -4 because of the x-x1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would then be: y+6 = -2 (x-4)

OpenStudy (hba):

Remember -*-=+ +*-=- +*+=+ -*+=-

thanks @hba & @zaynahf
