OpenStudy (anonymous):

in your posted function: f(x)=1-3x^2+2x=5x^4+3x^3 what is that second equal sign for?

Polynomial function means you're adding a bunch of terms, and each term is just a number or a variable to an integer power: \[ \large \sum_{i=0}^n a_ix^i \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your coefficients can be any real number, but your powers have to be natural numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you'll know you have a polynomial function if the exponents are NON-negative integers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is this one a polynomial function
