Write the equation 5x - y + 6 = 0 in standard form with integer coefficients.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already told you how to get to the answer to this question the last time you posted this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i didnt see it sorry i closed that question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Standard form is Ax+By=C where A is positive. Right now you have an equation in the form ax+by+c=0. So to get to standard form, just subtract c from both sides! In your case, a=5, b=-1, c=6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i got 5x-1y=-6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now what do i do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats tha answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg thanks that was a big big help . gracias

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but wait isnt y and x sopost to be apart?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You mean like y=mx+b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or is just sopost to be like that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's called Slope-intercept form.

Write the equation y = -3x + 9 in standard form with integer coefficients. can you help with this one???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, when you look at the equation you can immediately see that all of the coefficients are already integers. So the first thing you need to do is get the x and the y on the same side.
