How would I factor 2x^2+4x-30=0? I get lost

OpenStudy (mrdoe):

well you know you need it in the form of (2x+/-a)(x+/-b) and it must be factors of -30 that add up to 4, taking the 2x into account: (6*5)=30, so (5*-6)=-30, 2(6)-5=4 therefore it must be (2x-6)(x+5) does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it does. Thank you.
