Two end points of a line segment are (6, 8) and (-4, -2). What are the coordinates of the point on the line through which its bisector passes? (2, 6) (1, 3) (7, -3) (2, 2)

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Are you familiar with vector math?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

You can do this with vectors, but in this case (small numbers), you could also make a drawing and just see which of the points it is...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a bisector passes halfway (midway) so use the midpoint formula add up your x values, then divide by 2. this is the midpoint x add up your y values, then divide by 2. this is your midpoint y \[Midpoint = (\frac{ x _{1} + x _{2} }{ 2 }, \frac{ y_{1} + y_{2} }{ 2 })\]
