OpenStudy (anonymous):

15 3/4 = t + 4 5/8

geerky42 (geerky42):

Subtract both sides by \( 4 \dfrac{5}{8} \).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But 3/4 can't be subtracted by 5/8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Turn 3/4 --->6/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And Turn 4 5/8 --> 37/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh duh, okay so it would be 15 4/8 - 4 5/8?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

First, change all mixed numerals to fractions. 15 3/4 = 63/4 4 5/8 = 37/8 63/4 = t + 37/8

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Then, multiply both sides by the LCD, 8 (8)(63/4) = 8t + (8)(37/8) 2(63) = 8t + 37 126 = 8t + 37 89 = 8t t = 89/8 t = 11 1/8
