----I need urgent help please---- 1.)What are real numbers? (i.e. All real numbers that are greater than 5 OR less than or equal to -1) 2.) Do or statements result in 2 graphed lines on a number line graph? 3.) What and how are AND statements graphed? (i.e. three times x is less than -6 AND greater than -21.)

1. Real numbers are all numbers that are not imaginary. They include natural numbers, integers, rational and irrational numbers. It is any point you can plot on a number line. Think of rational numbers as being able to be described by dividing two natural numbers (excluding 0). So real also considers all rational and the numbers that are not definite... like pi. 2. I don't understand your question here. 3. It would appear as a line segment on the number line.

Thank you for so much help. I worded that wrong. Do OR statements (i.e. 3x+5<= 1 OR 8-x<5) result in 2 lines on the same line graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes they correspond to two different lines which may overlap depending on allowed values of x, the OR let's us choose either line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it mathematically correct to have both though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm quite sure it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much for all your help. You really got me out of a tough situation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem ;)
