Part a.) Write the equation of the line that has a slope of -2 and a y-intercept of -6. (5 points) Part b.) Write the equation of the line that passes through the point (6, -2) and has a slope of -2/3. (5 points)

OpenStudy (zehanz):

The general form of such a line is y=ax+b. a is the slope, b is the y-intercept. You can get the answer to Part a.) by just substituting! Part b.) is a little harder. The slope is not the problem (see above). Write down the equation with the appropriate slope. How to calculate b now? Point (6,-2) is on the line, so if you substitute x=6 and y = -2, you can get b.
