in all those scary movies when lightning strikes someone it brings them back to life. can the energy of lightning make a heart start to pump again or is it to much? will award medal.

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

alright basically i agree that the electricity helps heart regain its paces but only limited energy not lighting with has enormous enromous energy which could kill the person

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

only short and correct dosage will help only if the patients body supports

A very high voltage causes muscles (including the heart) to clench. So the first answer is, no - it makes the heart stop beating. On the other hand, this is exactly what a defibrillator does too. A heart attack is (typically) not "zero heart beat" but rather the atrium and ventrical getting out of sync (instead of bu-bump, bu-bump, they just spasm). The defibrillator stops the heart completely which gives it a chance to reset into the proper rhythm. I suppose lightning could do the same thing, but only if the person had a spasming heart. If their heart is stopped then lightning is unlikely to help.
